New for 2022 from CCM is the Tacks 70 helmet. With the Tacks 70, CCM put a major emphasis on comfort, weight balance, and adaptability for the recreational player at all ages and sizes.
Outer Shell Construction
The helmet shell has been constructed with high-density PE plastic for great coverage around your ear and temple areas. To better disperse impact forces, the helmet uses a modern, pro-approved approach in its design.
Internal Foams & Liner
The Tacks 70 uses a dual-density liner for good coverage, light weight, and great comfort. This foam is commonly used in current recreational helmets for its memory foam-like properties and good protection. The foams have been carved to follow the contours and design of the shell for good ventilation all around.
Fit & Sizing Adjustments
The helmet has a tool-free length adjustment system complete with an Easy Flip Clip located on the side of the shell. This adjustment system is really simple to use; just flip the clip up, and you can pull the helmet shell length-wise for the best fit.
It is suggested that you pull the helmet lengthwise all the way, and then put the helmet on before pushing the helmet’s shape back in place, so it can mold around your head. Once you’re done, flip the clip back to close to lock in the shape.
Certification
The Tacks 70 helmet is certified with HECC (Hockey Equipment Certification Council), CSA (Canadian Standards Association), and CE (European Community) certification. These stickers indicate their compliance with the applicable standards in different leagues.
Sizes & Colors
The CCM Tacks 70 Senior helmet comes in Small, Medium, and Large sizes. Please refer to the Size Guide to better determine the right size for you.

Hockey Helmet Sizing
Sizing before Purchase
To fit for your proper sized helmet you will need a soft tape measure. Take this tape measure and have another person snugly wrap it around your head at the largest point, usually just above the eyebrows (see left). Record this measurement of circumference and compare it to the available sizing charts in the brand of helmet you are looking at.
Sizing after Purchase
To ensure a good fit after you have received your proper sized helmet, flip open and unlock the helmet clip(s) and slide the helmet to its last and largest setting. Position it on the head so the rim is one finger width above the eyebrow. Gradually begin to downsize the helmet, pressing on the front and back until a comfortable, snug fit is achieved. Lock the helmet into this size by pressing down and closing the locking adjustment(s). Look in a mirror while wearing the helmet to make sure the ear guards are covering at least half of your ear and to make sure the helmet does not appear to be shifting back and forth on your head.
It is recommended to use a mouth guard although not required. It is recommended that players wear HECC and CE Certified helmets and in Hockey Canada sanctioned leagues it is required for helmets to be CSA approved. CSA, HECC and CE Certified stickers are fixed to the helmets indicating their certification.
