Intro & New Features

The Bauer Vapor 3X Pro SR Hockey Stick delivers truly elite performance backed with extra durability not typically found at this level. The 3X Pro features top-end specs from top to bottom, but it’s reinforced shaft walls are what sets it apart from the pack.

Stick Flex Profile

The 3X Pro features Bauer’s XE Taper Technology. The Vapor line still features their customary true low kick stick profile, but the XE technology offers some improvements over past models. The tapered portion is slightly narrower which reduces the overall weight of the stick. The taper also has a softened portion that increases release speed. The new taper geometry also improves blade stability and reduces torsional shift when shooting.

Shaft Construction

The elite level 3X Pro has shaft technology typically reserved for only the flagship models - Bauer’s Textreme lightweight construction. The fuse technology is Bauer’s high performance mold which offers a true 1-piece feel. Bauer also increased the carbon layering of the shaft which increases the shaft thickness slightly to improve durability, and any weight change was offset by the XE taper technology.

The 3X Pro is also coming in 5 grams lighter than the 2X pro. Bauer has made the release 5% quicker on slapshots and 10% tougher on impacts. If you remember, a big focus on the 2X Pro was the added durability features, so coming in an additional 10% stronger, while improving weight and recoil speed is a big win.

Blade Construction & Stiffness

True to the Vapor line, the 3X Pro has an extra stiff blade to work in unison with the low profile flex profile for a dynamic release. Like the 2X Pro, the 3X Pro utilizes Bauer’s TeXtreme technology in the blade as well. TeXtreme is 20% lighter and 20% more durable than traditional carbon fiber and is a big reason why the 3X Pro weighs an incredible 410 grams.

The MaxBalance blade can be found across the Vapor line and uses reinforced edges to allow for a lightweight core. This maintains the stiff shot profile while reducing stick weight and improving balance.

Graphics

The Vapor 3X Pro graphic has taken inspiration from Bauer’s shadow series and made it a very dark base with dark accents. This graphic really plays into the elite player that doesn’t want a lot of colour pop on their stick.

Grip

The Bauer 3X Pro stick is equipped with the standard Vapor grip. The entirety of the stick is covered in a clear coat that adds a bit of tackiness to the stick for improved control.

Blade Patterns, Flex & Stick Length

At the 3X Pro Senior price point - the P92M pattern option becomes available. The ‘M’ notation indicates max blade height for the P92 pattern. This is the maximum blade height allowed from heel to toe - ultimately creating more surface area for the player to make plays on the ice. This is extremely beneficial when taking face-offs and tipping pucks.

Hockey Player Stick Sizing & Information Guide

Selecting the right stick for you.
When it comes to sizing a Hockey Stick, the length tends to be a preference. Sticks come in Senior, Intermediate, Junior and Youth lengths with corresponding flex options. You will need to consider your weight and height or the person you are buying for in order to choose the correct size. Intermediate, Junior, and Youth hockey sticks will have smaller shaft dimensions, making them easier for young players to hold and control.

A stick can always be cut down in length, and will usually be cut down for kids. However, selecting a hockey stock too long in length or the wrong flex can hinder performance. For kids, junior, intermediate and senior all come in roughly standards length. In some cases, each Junior flex will be a different length of stick. Look at each and compare the height of the player you are buying for.

Flex can be tricky to pick as every hockey player is different and has their own preference. You can think of flex numbers as pounds of force. Having too stiff or too whippy a stick can hinder performance in their own ways.

Personalizing your stick length.
As mentioned before, length is very much personal preference. To determine a benchmark height, stand with your shoes off and the stick against your body with the toe on the ground. As a general rule of thumb we recommend sticks to come up to between your mouth and nose. For kids, or players who are still growing, the maximum height we recommend is eye level.

Mark the shaft of the stick where the height is desired and cut it down to length. Make sure to re-insert the plug from the top to prevent an open composite end at the top of your stick.

When cutting a stick down, keep in mind that the shorter you cut a stick, the stiffer it becomes. As a general rule, a stick increases 3% in stiffness for every inch cut off. If you are unsure how much you want to cut off, take the least amount first so that you can always cut more if necessary. Cutting the stick multiple times will not affect the sticks construction.

Information to Consider

Flex Options
Players want to be able to fully flex the stick. If a stick is too soft, the resulting shot will be inaccurate and weak. If a stick is too stiff, there will be no power behind the shot. Think of the flex number as pounds of force. This is the number of pounds that need to be put into the stick to fully flex it.

Curve Options
In most cases, sticks are offered in multiple blade curve pattern options. Please refer to our blade pattern charts for more information regarding the patterns available.

Kick Point Options
A Mid-kick stick will have a stiffer taper so that it flexes more in the middle of the shaft. These sticks have a longer loading time but offer a more powerful shot, perfect for players taking a lot of slap shots.

A Low-kick stick will have a stiffer middle of the shaft and softer taper so that it flexes at the bottom of the shaft closer to the blade. These sticks will have a much quicker release perfect for quick snap shots and writs shots.

Great Stick !

Great stick , I like the feel and the kick point positon on this stick, which is not too low, also the blade is stiff and don’t give when you shot. Only down point is that Bauer stick are a bite shorter then other brand. But overall a great stick.
