CCM Ultra Tacks Stick Reviewed
Overview:
With the launch of the CCM Ultra Tacks stick on June 26th, 2015, CCM has upped their game again and improved upon last year’s Tacks stick with some nifty upgrades.
Currently the Ultra Tacks stick is being used by the likes of David Perron, Filip Forsberg, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, as well as Pavel Datsyuk as their weapon of choice. And more and more players are expected to make the switch over as playoffs approach.
So, what separates the Ultra Tacks stick from other composite sticks on the market?
The Ultra Tack has a mid-kick design which allows for improved energy transfer and an increase in shot power when fully loaded – making it an ideal choice for players with a heavy shot.
1Bumper Technology
CCM introduces their Bumper Technology fused into the shaft of the stick to increase durability from regular wear and tear, as well as from heavy slashes and shots. The Ultra Tacks shaft is reinforced from the inside with Bumper Technology around the four corners where various impacts are common. In addition to increased durability, Bumper Technology will help the shaft maintain it’s pop. Go ahead and play this stick hard - Bumper Technology will let you concentrate on better things…like putting pucks into the back of the net.
2Ultra AttackFrame Blade
One of the biggest design call outs on the original CCM Tacks stick lineup was the AttackFrame blade which prevented the blade from torqueing and opening up – translating into increased accuracy.
All the guys here who have used the original Tacks stick agree that the AttackFrame Blade provides an incredibly stiff/responsive feel, while still maintaining amazing puck feel no matter how many clappers were fired.
So, of course the good folks at CCM were going to improve on this blade for the Ultra Tacks sticks. Enter the Ultra AttackFrame blade. CCM has improved performance on their already amazing blade by removing five grams of weight from the blade while maintaining the same stiffness. This helps balance out the stick even better than before. It’s pretty impressive that the Ultra AttackFrame is lighter but just as strong as before while also increasing softness and puck feel.
And you don’t just have to take our word for it - the Ultra AttackFrame blade has been tested over the course of the last year’s season by CCM’s pro athletes in the NHL and AHL.
3Graphics Update
Taking a quick glance at the Ultra Tacks – the stick still mesmerizes and pops with that new paint scheme while sticking the powerful CCM Yellow. Personally, we think the stick looks even better than the original Tacks. And let’s be honest, style points count.
2015Tacks Lineup
