CCM RBZ SpeedBurner LE & SE Composite Sticks Review
CCM has stepped up their composite stick game lately, coming a long way from the original RBZ stick launched. With better technology, design, and testing, CCM has created an exceptional lineup of sticks tailored to your style of play. The folks at CCM have once again partnered with TaylorMade and raised the bar on their new RBZ Speedburner stick. You can expect even more power and velocity out of this stick for all the snipers out there. New to the Speedburner is a change to the graphic which gives the stick an even better look and more flash out on the ice.
Updated Graphic
Even with the CCM Speedburner being an aesthetically pleasing stick, CCM has found a way to give the new SE and LE versions a fresh new look. The SE version comes with an all-white graphic, with CCM paying homage to original RBZ stick. The LE version of the Speedburner features a chromed out graphic which is super shiny and reflective, perfect for you guys who are all flash and dash out on the ice. Both versions of the sticks are eye-catching with that excellent performance from the Speedburner you’ve already come to expect. The updated look adds enough change to separate you from everyone else with the traditional Speedburner.
Power – Lots of it
The boys at ‘The Shop’ were fortunate enough to skate with CCM and test out the new Speedburners. After asking around, the consensus from our staff is positive feedback unanimously. Designed for power, with excellent transfer throughout the stick, and more importantly increased puck feel, the boys thought it was a familiar feeling stick with some surprises under the hood.
What sets the CCM Speedburner apart? The use of their new Powerhosel Technology with improves the shaft and blade by placing a rib inside the stick as well as the structure of the taper itself. Essentially, this will give you a more powerful shot with increased energy transfer, and who can complain about that? If you’re a shooter who likes to whip pucks at the net whenever you get the opportunity, Powerhosel improves durability in that breakage prone area so you can rely on your twig during key moments, and it’s also a cleaner look on the outside.
Powerhosel coupled with CCM’s Speed Pocket Technology aids in giving you that added zing to beat those goalies wherever you like. Speed Pocket helps maximize puck speed by increasing C.O.R, or “coefficient of return” which is essentially the trampoline effect where the energy returned from the stick at the point of impact with the puck is measured. In simple terms this means power, and lots of it on all types of shots, and all players benefit from an increase in power.
The stick also proves to be easy on the eyes with updated graphics, and let’s be honest it’s a great looking twig.
Same great feel
The Speedburner also has proven tech seen on the CCM lineup of sticks that will make it feel familiar, but under the hood, the stick is an animal.
With this beauty weighing in at only 425 grams, it has an extremely low swing weight which improves balance and weight distribution, players can expect to see faster, more accurate shots no matter what type they take.
RBZ has always been known for its custom kickpoint design where the player’s bottom hand determines where the stick will flex, and the Speedburner is no different. CCM set out to create a stick that generates power, and a custom kickpoint gives you power on all types of shots and whether or not you’re in the perfect position.
The CCM RBZ lineup of sticks includes the RBZ 260, and RBZ 240 both of which include some top end features seen on the Speedburner. Both sticks feature a custom kickpoint as well as a low swing weight. The RBZ 260 includes the SpeedBlade 2 with Freak Channels seen on the RBZ Superfast. Both great sticks for players outside the top end stick market.
Conclusion
Updated, renewed, revamped, whatever you want to call it, the Speedburner is an excellent stick with much needed improvements that help define the stick more so than ever before. An increase in overall power with Powerhosel and Speedpocket technology take the stick to another level, and CCM hasn’t forgot about overall improvements such as durability either. Low Swing Weight and a custom kickpoint design, CCM has ultimately made a powerful stick for powerful shots. If you’re a player who likes to shoot and shoot from everywhere, the Speedburner might be your perfect match.
