Bauer Vapor Hyperlite Goalie Stick Review
DURABILITY + GRIP + CONTROL = THE BEST BAUER GOALIE STICK EVER MADE.
Traditionally, the Vapor line of goal sticks has lagged behind the Supreme in their technology, feel and weight. The Hyperlite stick looks to change that narrative by offering better control when playing the puck, using new technologies to feel more locked into your hand and by being even lighter than the Ultrasonic stick along with offering a wide array of custom options and colours.
Hyperlite PentaGrip
One of the most interesting innovations brought to the Hyperlite stick is the integration of PentaGrip to the paddle shoulder. Seen on player sticks like the Nexus Geo and Supreme Ultrasonic, PentaGrip is a unique five-sided shaft designed to sit deeper into the palm of your glove to provide the best possible feel and control over the stick. This is a huge advantage when making stick saves as it doesn’t spin or move in your hand.
Shaft
The shaft of the Hyperlite uses the same 3k Carbon shaft as the UltraSonic with Advanced Carbon Layering technology which helps to improve durability while reducing weight. The shaft on the Hyperlite is also 2” shorter than that of their normal shaft length. This helps to not only reduce weight but also to give goalies better control over the stick when playing the puck.
Paddle Construction
Just like the Ultrasonic stick, the Hyperlite paddle is made of a full Textreme construction with their Advanced Carbon Layering which allows Bauer to strategically layer the carbon in a way that improves the strength while decreasing weight. While it doesn’t use the same Ergo+ technology as the Supreme line, the Hyperlite does feature a concave paddle designed to help control rebounds.
Colours and Customizability
The Hyperlite stick comes in four colours standard including silver/white, red/white, blue/white and black/white. As with all Bauer gear, the new Vapor stick is completely customizable offering 6 colour zones, 3 curves, 2 shoulder options and many colours truly allowing you to match your set and team.
Final Thoughts
To round off an impressive new line from Bauer, the Hyperlite stick packs innovation and technology into an insanely light package. With features such as the PentaGrip shoulder for improved grip, shortened shaft for better puck handling and a 595 gram weight; the Hyperlite stick is one of the best sticks seen on the market to date.
