The Bauer Elite SR Chest Protector is back! Better than ever before. The new Bauer Elite comes equipped with many great features to offer everyone a great chest outside of that pro level price range. Bauer really went through all the little details with this chest and it paid off, from as little as suspender straps on the shoulder floaters all the way to the new extended belly wrap Bauer has managed to tick off at the boxes.
External Material
The Bauer Elite chest exterior is covered in nylon and mesh to provide great breathability and durability. It is also lined with Thermomax+ to keep you cool and fight odor and bacteria.
Internal Foams
The internal build up of this chest is primarily the same throughout, we see Bauer using a multi layer impact form foam in the belly and a molded sternum. The chest also features a removable three piece belly extension wrap and Bauer’s Thermomax+ liner for quick drying time and good protection against odor and bacteria.
Shoulder Caps
The Elite chest features a sewn-in shoulder cap, the make up of it will include hard plastic and EPP foam. This combo will result in a highly durable and protective shoulder cap.
Adjustable Arms
The arms of the Bauer Elite chest are adjustable, the arms come sewn in for top level durability. Although the arms are sewn in Bauer has given a velcro strap as well to let you customize the length of the arms to get the perfect fit.
Elbow Caps
Bauer went with their three-piece segmented elbow caps on the Elite Chest Protector. The segmented caps allow for phenomenal flexibility and mobility, the elbow caps are made up of a hard plastic with foam and then lined with a nylon.
Back Straps
In terms of fit customization the Bauer Elite does not lack in that department. The Bauer Elite chest comes equipped with one elastic back strap to change through various tightnesses as well as a shoulder floater collar adjustment and lastly a fully adjustable shoulder, to really allow each person to find their own fit.

Goalie Chest Protector Sizing
Sizing a chest protector is important to ensure the goaltenders range of motion is uninhibited, while still offering complete coverage from impact. There are steps necessary to finding the right fit in your chest protector, and the first is to know your measurements. Here at The Hockey Shop, we like to use two measurements: torso length and arm span. Once you have these two measurements, match your measurements to our sizing charts.
Sizing your Chest Protector
After receiving your chest protector, you are going to want to check if the size fits the following criteria:
- 1. The arms end just before your wrist. This is important because you want to ensure that the wrist portion of the arms do not interfere with your blocker and catcher—this still provides adequate growing room for the blocker and trapper, which usually last you 1 to 2 years. Depending on the model, adjustable arms may be an offered feature, which is an added bonus for goaltenders that are still growing.
2. Your elbows fit securely in to the pocket of the elbow protection, and do not shift too far away from them. Keep in mind, arms usually have to be adjusted while putting on your chest & arm. Use the adjustable arm features where given to give you an optimal fit.
3. Make sure the shoulders of the chest & arm are sitting comfortably atop, and wrapped around your shoulders. This can be seen visually by looking at the collar of the chest & arm. You want the collar to sit slightly above your clavicle, but not too high that it interferes with the bottom of your goalie mask.
